FC Dallas Youth Soccer

The team packed their bags and headed for the hills... The Hill Country, that is. After dominating bracket play, despite a 2-2 tie with Sting Blue 94, the girls entered the semi-finals against a well rested Lonestars 94 Blue team on Sunday afternoon. They did not have to play many of their main players, since they could afford to lose and still advance in the morning game. Having just "suffered" a tie with Sting after leading 2-0 in their morning game, the girls were in no mood to mess around. They took a lead and stifled the Lonestars at every turn. In Mondays final against Sting Blue 94, the girls were victims of a little complacency and a LOT of questionable calls; calls that resulted in FOUR scoring opportunities, two of them PKs in the box. Leading 2-0, the girls watched that lead evaporate on a good play by Sting, and those calls, of which Sting converted two... Still it was a good and fun weekend for all. Well played, ladies!

After losing game #1 to Odyssey Blue 94, 2-0, the team really picked up their game and showed a glimpse of some great things to come by plowing through their next three opponents, including the semi-final, by a combined score of 14-2. This included wins over Ft. Worth FC 95 White (LHGCL D1), Polaris 94 (Grand Champion 2007 - Plano Premier League) and Lubbock Arsenal 94 (LHGCL D3). In the final, the ladies were a bit sluggish (tired?) and  although there were plenty of opportunities, no one could finish. A little miscommunication and tired legs contributed to an uncontested goal in the box off a free kick. Final score, 1-0.

Overall, it was a nice weekend of soccer to build some confidence for the start of league play. Well done, ladies!

In the teams first action of the 2008-2009 season, FC Dallas Red South managed three ties and a win to secure 2nd place overall in the 2008 King TUT (Tune-Up Tournament) held at Craig Ranch in McKinney. The weather was extremely hot, but the girls endured defeating Solar Silver 3-0, and tying the Dallas Texans West White 94, Texas Spirit 94 White and Texas Spirit 95 Red all by identical 0-0 scores. Defense was definitely ahead of the offense! Good Job ladies!
